long time

So it's been a long time since I've posted..I've been busy working from my parents house and visiting with friends and family. While home I've been able to hit up my favorite places, namely Destino's and Sugar Magnolias. We went to Lattitude 43 last night and it was terrible. I"m pretty sure I won't recommend it to anyone. The sushi prices were outrageous and the food wans't all that good. I also made a trip to the Tree Shop and had no luck there. Tomorrow I take off for a week in VA then home for two sleeps and then off to Santa Barbara for Picchi's much anticipated bachelorette.

And they're off....

Today is opening day at the Del Mar Racetrack. I'm pretty bummed that I didn't get to go again this year. However, tomorrow Chris' company has reserved a banquet room at the track for us to go and enjoy food/beverages and the races. I have an absolutely fabulous hat that will basically shield my entire face as its so HUGE...gotta love it!
I have been to another track and it can't even be compared to how beautiful this place is. You can see the pacific from the track and the weather is perfect almost every day. The track was financed by Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante and a few other old time chaps. Crosby's song created the slogan for the track "Where The Surf Meats The Turf", which has been adopted by my Del Mar Residents as a town slogan.

We now live a mile from the track, which could result in more trips than in summers past. I'm just stoked for the season to start. If you've never been to a race, trust me it's totally worth it.

I can't handle....

Animal Cruelty. Two neighboring towns will be hosting a Circus put on by a company with a history of abusing its elephants. Is a Circus even still relevant? With all the types of entertainment available do we really need a travelling circus with second rate performers and animals who have been forced into a life of performing for peanuts...literally? And when I say entertainment, I don't mean sitting yourself in front of the tv and watching animal planet. There are various ways, in any local community, to go out and experience wild and plant life without having to lock them in cages and transport them via 128 South. If you are in the MA area, take a drive to the Berkshires, drive to Ipswich and visit wolf Hollow, or go to a zoo that prides itself in research, education, and preservation. Research a way that you can find 'animal' entertainment locally, in an atmosphere that is safe for all involved.

Best Meal Ever

A few weeks ago we went to Kemo Sabe with the dinner club. It was restaurant week so we got a three course meal for under $100 for the two of us. It was, without a doubt the best meal I have ever had. Being a vegetarian I eat a lot of portabello sandwiches, pasta, and salads when going out to dinner. Thankfully Kemo Sabe had an unbelieveable vegetarian choice on the menu and I can't stop talking about it. Above is the picture of my amazing meal. It included a fried slice of sweet potato, cold udod noodles, grilled veggies, cucumber salad, and much much more. Below there are photos of the AMAZING dessert and Brie Appetizer.

Is there such a thing as too much fun?

If there is...i'm pretty sure myself, A-dog, Brozo, and Carly are guilty. The 4th was an amazing day. A lot of sitting by the pool, drinking Coors Light aka Warewolf Killers, followed by a fun filled night out in Del Mar. A-dog even show-cased the first dress I made on my own without a pattern. It fit he perfectly and she wore it well at three bars, which we were cut off at 1 of. I also get yelled at for singing Lee Greenwood's "Proud To Be An America", I was told I was mocking it, I promise that is just the tone of my voice! We had an absolutely amazing time and I couldn't have planned the day better.

Saturday in the park I wish it was the fourth of July!

I always wish I was back in Gloucester during the days surrounding the 4th. The 3rd was always the funnest day of the year when I was a kid. Serious cookouts at the Telles house, Billy GooGa stopping by in a costume to drink from moms beer, throwing snaps at walkers ankles, and many more fun memories. The 4th is moms birthday, she's 55 this year! Generally we took this day easy, but the best year for sure was when she turned 50 and Kelly Lawsaleone did the "I'm Fifty" dance while Chris set off fireworks at the playground. That will go down in history for sure! Either way...happy birthday mom!

Keep an eye out for your gift, its pretty rad.
